The visa requirement for Chile depends on your nationality.

No visa required (tourist stays up to 90 days)

Citizens from most Western European, North American, South American, Oceania, and some Asian countries can enter visa-free for tourism:

  • United States

  • Canada

  • Mexico

  • United Kingdom

  • EU countries (e.g. France, Germany, Spain)

  • Australia

  • Japan

  • South Korea

  • Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, etc.

⚠️ Some of these countries must pay a reciprocity fee or register online (AVE) in advance (e.g. Australia used to, but the fee is now waived).

🚫 Visa required for tourism

Citizens from the following countries generally require a tourist visa before entering Chile:

  • India

  • China

  • Pakistan

  • Bangladesh

  • Nepal

  • Algeria,  Egypt,  Morocco

  • Nigeria,  Cameroon

  • Indonesia,  Philippines

  • Iran,  Iraq,  Afghanistan

👉 In some cases, citizens of these countries can apply for an electronic visa (AVE) or be exempt if they hold valid U.S. or Schengen visas.
