Observation of a structure in the M$_{p\eta}$ invariant mass distribution near 1700 MeV in the $\gamma p \rightarrow p \pi^0 \eta$ reaction

Abstract
The present work extends earlier studies of the reaction gamma p->p pi0 eta and has been motivated by the recently claimed observation of a narrow structure around an excitation energy of 1678 MeV [JETP106(2017)693].The existence of this structure cannot be confirmed. Instead, a statistically significant structure in the M(p eta) invariant mass distribution near 1700MeV is observed.The most likely interpretation is that of a triangular singularity in the gamma p->p a0->p pi0 eta reaction.
