Abstract content

With full coverage and high observation altitude, the ARGO-YBJ experiment offer us an opportunity to get further information for the cosmic ray spectrum in the 'knee region' and the spectrum from different primaries. On the base of Monte Carlo Simulation, a large simulation sample are generated. Several parameters are introduced which describe the shower lateral distribution, front plane and thickness. It is shown that the parameters are sensitive to primary masses. An artificial neural network (ANN) is created with these parameters and trained to discriminate between primaries. The preliminary result indicates that proton/iron could be effectively separated.
