When thinking about the origin of mass in the visible universe, the Higgs boson is the first that comes to mind. While undeniably pivotal in the universe, its share to this budget constitutes merely 2%; the vast remanent stems from QCD interactions. This talk delves into how examining pseudoscalar mesons provides a valuable window into comprehending the mass origin within the Standard Model, exploring the interplay between these two competing mechanisms and their implications for the hadronic structure. Several contributions from continuum Schwinger methods shall be highlighted.
