Strangeness production with EPOS-LHC for small systems
Content
Heavy-ion collisions at high temperatures and energy densities create a quark-gluon plasma (QGP), a deconfined state of quarks and gluons. Enhanced production of strange particles, particularly multi-strange baryons, has been considered a signature of QGP formation. However, ALICE-LHC at CERN have unexpectedly observed similar patterns in proton-proton collisions, suggesting the emergence of collective phenomena similar to those seen in heavy-ion collisions. This study, using the EPOS-LHC, explores the production of strangeness in small systems (proton-proton collisions) across different impact parameter ranges to investigate its potential connection to QGP formation.
