We review, from a theoretical and phenomenological point of view, different frameworks that are commonly used in literature to explore the traits of the QCD phase diagram, including lattice simulations, field theoretical methods and effective models of strong interactions. We particularly present some features of the physical observables that might be helpful to pin-point the position of the Critical End-Point.
