An exploratory study on the different sources of isospin breaking effects in hadrons using the Poincaré covariant Bethe-Salpeter and Dyson-Schwinger formalism is presented. As a first step towards the calculation of the omega-rho mass spliting, we analize strong isospin breaking effects and mass spiting for the pi^+, pi^- and pi^0 system inclunding non-valence effects into the Bethe-Salpeter interaction kernel and Dyson-Schwinger equations.
