Photoproduction experiments are a key tool in the investigation of the spectrum of hadronic states and the way gluons contribute to this spectrum. The GlueX experiment, located at Jefferson Lab, features a linearly polarized tagged photon beam and is dedicated to the search for hybrid mesons, states with gluonic degrees of freedom.
This talk presents results from our initial campaign of data taki

The talk will review the progress in analysis tools, the methods required to extract properties of the hadronic states from their manifestation as resonances in scattering processes and decays. I will focus on the application of the techniques based on the general principles of the scattering theory, but will also touch upon the advances in the technical aspects of the relevant computation problem

The discovery of many unexpected new resonance candidates dubbed as exotic states has been challenging the quark model. High-energy collisions of hadrons and nuclei are a good tool for investigating them, but prone to kinematical effects from hadron decays into final states. In turn, lepton and photon beams offer an efficient means to probe the hadron spectrum. In view of the upcoming EIC experime

The past decades have witnessed the exciting discovery of more and more hidden-charm states beyond the conventional meson and baryon scheme. The LHCb experiment at the LHC has been at the forefront of this endeavour given its large heavy hadron yield and unique capability in reconstructing heavy hadrons. This talk presents a review of the recent experimental progress on hidden-charm states, in whi

The recently approved NA66/AMBER experiment (Apparatus for Meson and Baryon Experimental Research) at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron pursues a broad research program in quantum chromodynamics. It ranges in its first phase from a precision measurement of the proton radius with a 100 GeV muon beam to investigating the quark-gluon structure of mesons in Drell-Yan processes. In a second phase, radi

Using dispersion theory with an improved description of the two-pion continuum based on the precise Roy-Steiner analysis of pion-nucleon scattering, we analyze recent data from electron-proton scattering. This allows for a high-precision determination of the electric and magnetic radius of the proton, $r_E = (0.838^{+0.005}_{-0.004}{}^{+0.004}_{-0.003})$~fm and $r_M = (0.847\pm{0.004}\pm{0.004})$

One of the biggest challenges in contemporary physics is understanding of the origin and dynamics of the internal structure of hadrons. Many aspects can be properly addressed via a variety of parton distributions: electromagnetic and gravitational form factors, distribution functions, generalized parton distributions and so on. In this talk, we present a contemporary picture of our current underst

The vast majority of hadrons are not stable with respect to the strong interactions, and are seen as resonant enhancements in the scattering of the lightest stable hadrons. Recent developments have enabled the determination of hadron resonance properties from scattering amplitudes determined from lattice QCD. A summary of the approach and several recent examples will be presented for resonances se

The dynamics of the quarks and gluons inside the nucleon are a long-standing question in hadron physics. To shed more light on this topic, the excitation spectrum of the nucleons needs to be measured and compared to theoretical models like constituent quark models or lattice QCD calculations. In this presentation, an overview about the current status in light baryon spectroscopy will be given, inc

Recent high-quality data samples from various experiments grant new insights into the excitation spectrum of light mesons; which are composed of up, down, and strange quarks. While the non-strange light-meson spectrum is already mapped out rather well, many predicted strange mesons have not yet been observed experimentally or need further confirmation. In this talk, I will give an overview over re

Our knowledge of macroscopic features of neutron stars (NS) have been greatly progressed by recent astronomical observations. However, hyperon appearance in NS contradicts to the existence of NS with two solar masses (hyperon puzzle). For the microscopic understanding of nuclear matter with hyperons, there are growing efforts worldwide in hypernuclear spectroscopy. I will review recent experimenta

Global QCD analyses of nucleon structure have made great strides in recent years, thanks to a steady influx of data from facilities like Jefferson Lab and the LHC. Meanwhile, the current standard in perturbative accuracy is now next-to-next-to-leading-order (N$^2$LO) in $\alpha_s$. In this talk, I will survey recent developments that have allowed contemporary QCD global analyses to benefit from th

The BESIII experiment has accumulated large datasets at the charmonium resonances $J/\psi$, $\psi(3686)$ and $\psi(3770)$ as well as at various other center-of-mass energies in the region between 3.8 and 4.9 GeV. Among other things, these datasets allow us to study light hadrons and their properties, the production and decays of open charm mesons, and both well known and newly discovered exotic XY

Protons are understood as states of quarks and gluons bound by the strong force, but the dynamics that form a proton from quarks and gluons is poorly understood. Contrary to naive assumptions, there is an asymmetry between d and u anti-quarks. This asymmetry cannot arise from pQCD and demonstrates a fundamental anti-quark component in the proton. SeaQuest has measured the deuterium to hydrogen Dre
