In this talk I will discuss what lessons can be learned about the structure of the famous X(3872) from the study of its yield in high-multiplicity pp collisions. In particular, I will comment on some recent data by the LHCb collaboration, and how well they are reproduced under the assumption of a compact tetraquark state or a loosely bound molecule.

The ALICE Collaboration has carried out measurements of K$^0_{\rm S}$K$^{\rm \pm}$ interactions with pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV and Pb--Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=2.76$ TeV to study the $a_0(980)$ meson, which is a tetraquark candidate, using the method of two-particle femtoscopy.
