The most convenient manner to arrive in Chile from abroad is to fly to the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, also known as Santiago International Airport. It is among the most modern and efficient airports in the Americas, receiving direct flights from major cities in South America, the Caribbean, Oceania, North America, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

To reach Avenida Providencia (where we recommend you book your accommodation) from the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago de Chile, you have several transportation options, depending on your budget, time, and convenience.

🚕 1. Taxi or Ride-hailing (Uber, Cabify, DiDi)

  • Time: ~20–30 minutes (traffic dependent)

  • Cost: ~$20–30 USD (Uber is usually cheaper than official airport taxis)

  • Note: Use the designated app pickup zones. For official taxis, confirm the fare at the airport desk to avoid overcharging.

🚐 2. Airport Shuttle (Shared vans like Transvip or Delfos)

  • Time: ~30–45 minutes

  • Cost: ~$10–15 USD

  • Note: Book at the arrival’s terminal or online; they drop you at your hotel or address in Providencia.

🚌 3. Bus + Metro (Public Transport)

  • Route:

    1. Take Centropuerto or TurBus airport bus to Pajaritos Metro Station (~30 minutes),

    2. Transfer to Metro Line 1 (Red Line) toward Los Dominicos,

    3. Get off at Salvador, Manuel Montt, or Pedro de Valdivia stations, depending on your destination on Av. Providencia.

  • Total time: ~1 hour

  • Cost: ~$2–3 USD total

  • Note: Most affordable option, but may be crowded with luggage.

🚗 4. Private Transfer or Hotel Shuttle

  • Time: ~30 minutes

  • Cost: Varies (~$30–50 USD)

  • Note: Arrange in advance; some hotels in Providencia offer this service.

To reach the San Joaquín Campus of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, located at Av. Vicuña Mackenna 4860, Macul, you have several transportation options:

🚇 By Metro (Recommended)

  • Take Line 5 (Green Line) of the Santiago Metro.

  • Disembark at San Joaquín Station, which is directly adjacent to the campus.

  • Access the campus via a pedestrian overpass that connects the station to the university grounds, ensuring safe crossing over Av. Vicuña Mackenna. 

Transfers from Other Metro Lines:

  • From Line 1 (Red Line): Transfer at Baquedano Station to Line 5.

  • From Line 2 (Yellow Line): Transfer at Santa Ana Station to Line 5.

  • From Line 6 (Purple Line): Transfer at Ñuble Station to Line 5. 

Note: During peak hours (6–9 AM and 6–9 PM on weekdays), Line 5 operates an express service with trains marked as "Red" or "Green" routes. Ensure you board a train that stops at San Joaquín Station, typically indicated by red lights on the train. 

🚌 By Bus

  • From Metro Universidad Católica Station (Line 1), you can take bus route 210 from the south sidewalk of Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins (Bus stop ID: PA169).

  • Disembark at the main entrance of the San Joaquín Campus. 

🚗 By Car or Taxi

  • Input the address Av. Vicuña Mackenna 4860, Macul into your GPS or ride-hailing app.

  • The campus is approximately a 20–30 minute drive from central Santiago, depending on traffic conditions.

  • Parking is available on campus, but it's advisable to check for visitor parking regulations in advance.
