Abstract content
The Dark Energy Survey (DES) is a new project designed to measure the dark energy equation of state parameter, w, with four complementary techniques: galaxy cluster counts, weak lensing, angular power spectrum and Type Ia supernovae. DES consists on a wide field optical survey of the southern sky with a new instrument to be installed on the Blanco 4-m telescope at CTIO. We present an overview of the DES science forecast and a description of the new instrument.
