Abstract
In this talk we provide a brief review of recent developments in the study of the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy ion collisions. We highlight the role of QCD-initiated processes and QCD hard probes as means of access to flow, energy-loss and transport properties of this plasma. Finally, we will report on the MexNICA collaboration efforts to study the QCD phase diagram using the Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility (NICA) at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
