Tree-level matastable SUSY-breaking with D-terms
Description
We present a simple construction in which metastable vacua occur classically and in which supersymmetry-breaking is sourced by both D-terms and F-terms. All the relevant dynamics in the scenario described here is perturbative, hence calculations of vacuum energies and lifetimes can be performed explicitly. (In most other metastable SUSY-breaking models, these quantities are obscured by nonperturbative dynamics or unspecified high-scale physics required to stabilize runaway directions in the potential.) We also discuss how scenarios of this sort arise naturally from string theory.
