Description

We evaluate the impact of an external magnetic f ield on the chiral symmetry and con finement/ deconfin ement transition temperatures by using a confining vector-vector contact interaction model for quarks. Exploring the evolution of the chiral condensate and the confi ning scale of the model with temperature T and magnetic field strength eB (e represents the fundamental electric charge), we determine the pseudo-critical transition temperatures from the divergence of their thermal gradients, respectively. In the mean eld limit, we observe the magnetic catalysis phenomenon, characterised by a rising behaviour of the pseudo-critical transition temperatures with growing eB. Considering a lattice inspired running coupling which monotonically decreases with eB, inverse magnetic catalysis takes place in our model. Our fi ndings are in agreement with predictions from other models of strong interaction.
