Description

It has been well established that in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions the strongly coupled Quark-Gluon Plasma (sQGP) is formed, its properties are being studied at the new LHC energy frontier. ALICE, a heavy ion experiment at the LHC, has performed several measurements to probe the physics of sQGP. In this talk, a review of recent ALICE results will be presented, this comprises measurements of identified hadron production (yields and transverse momentum distributions) from few to tens of GeV/c, collective flow, fluctuations, jets, heavy flavor and charmonia production, and direct photon production. The studies have been performed for Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV. Measurements in smaller systems, pp and p-Pb collisions, have been also conducted primarily to provide reference data for heavy ion collisions, but also to study their properties. The similarities among the systems created in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions, will be also discussed.
