Description
I will present a framework to generate the fermionic masses and mixing angles by extending the Standard Model with extra Higgs Doublets. First, I will show the results of extending the Standard Model with one Higgs doublet and one right-handed neutrino. The masses of the second generation of fermions are generated by small quantum effects, naturally explaining the hierarchies with the third generation. The quark and lepton mixing matrices are also generated by quantum effects, after the assumption of rank 1 Yukawa couplings, reproducing the hierarchies of the experimental values. By adding a second extra Higgs doublet, the mass of the first generation can also be achieved by the quantum effects. The model generates a natural hierarchy between the first and second generation of fermions. The parameters generated radiatively depend logarithmically on the heavy Higgs masses, therefore this framework can be reconciled with the stringent limits on flavor violation by postulating a sufficiently large new physics scale.
