Abstract content

Synchrotron Light Sources (SLS) are medium to large size facilites that foster the modern development of multiple areas of knowledge, they also promote the scientific, technological and innovation development. The physical properties that make this possible are brilliance, broad spectrum, polarization, temporal pulsed structure and coherence. Among the fiftieen largest world economies Mexico is the only one that lack a SLS.

In the last year a project that studies the characteristics and viability of a Mexican Light Source has been developed wit the support of Conacyt and the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Technology of Morelos through a FOMIX project. Several federal and state institutions are involved UNAM (IFUNAM and ICFUNAM), UAM, CINVESTAV and the University of Guanajuato.

The main results of the work done until now are presented.
