DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Dr. SHIMIZU\, Yuki (Waseda University)\nWe carried o
 ut a balloon observation of cosmic rays using the CALET prototype \nat the
  Sanriku Balloon Center of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The \np
 rototype detector consists of 1024 scintillating fibers for track imaging 
 and 24 \nBGO scintillator bricks for total absorption of cosmic rays. The 
 observation was \ncarried at altiude between 35 and 37 km for about 4 hour
 s. We measured \nelectrons and gamma rays in the energy region between  1 
 to 100 GeV\, and 20 \nMeV to 1 GeV\, respectively. In addition to verifica
 tion of the prototype system\, \nwe obtained energy spectra of electrons a
 nd gamma rays. Now we are \nplanning a series of balloon experiments with 
 larger-scale detectors and longer-\nduration flights\, which includes one-
 month observation with a super-pressure \nballoon. In this presentation\, 
 we will report the results of the observation with \nthe prototype and fut
