DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Mr. SAKO\, Takashi (Institute for Cosmic Ray Researc
h\, University of Tokyo)\nThe Tibet air shower array\, which has an effect
ive area of 37\,000 square meters and\nis located at 4300 m in altitude\,
has been observing air showers induced by cosmic\nrays with energies above
a few TeV.\nWe have a plan to add a large muon detector array to it for t
he purpose of increasing\nits sensitivity to cosmic gamma rays in the 100
TeV energy region by discriminating\nthem from cosmic-ray hadrons.\nWe hav
e deduced an attainable sensitivity of the muon detector array using our M
onte\nCarlo simulation.\nGamma rays from the Crab Nebula with energies abo
ve 100 TeV are expected to be\ndetectable within a year at a significance
of more than 5 sigma if its flux does not\nhave a cutoff up to 100 TeV.\nC
omparison with the recent H.E.S.S. observation allows us to expect that\na
pproximately ten new sources emitting gamma rays in the 100 TeV energy reg
ion can be\ndiscovered in the northern sky.\nThe possibility of detection
of gamma rays with energies around 100 TeV from some\nknown point sources
in our field of view is also discussed.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.m
