DESCRIPTION:Speakers: \nThe rate of events measured with the surface detec
tor (SD) of the Pierre Auger\nObservatory is found to be \nmodulated by th
e weather conditions. This effect\, observed in different ranges of\nS(100
0)\, the signal \nmeasured at 1000 m from the shower core\, is due to the
increasing amount of matter\ntraversed by a shower \nas the ground pressu
re increases and to the inverse proportionality of the Moliere\nradius to
the air density \nnear ground. The latter effect results in a modulation o
 f the lateral spread of the\nshower with T and P. Air-\nshower simulations
with different realistic profiles of the atmosphere support this\ninterpr
 etation of the \nobserved effects.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx/eve
