DESCRIPTION:Speakers: BARAO\, F. (LIP\, Avenida Elias Garcia 14-1\, P-1000
Lisboa\, Portugal)\nThe AMS detector\, to be installed on the Internation
al Space Station\, includes a Ring\nImaging Cerenkov detector with two dif
 ferent radiators\, silica aerogel (n=1.05) and\nsodium fluoride (n=1.334).
This detector is designed to provide very precise\nmeasurements of veloci
ty and electric charge in a wide range of cosmic nuclei\nenergies and atom
ic numbers.\n\nThe detector geometry\, in particular the presence of a ref
lector for acceptance\npurposes\, leads to complex Cerenkov patterns detec
ted in a pixelized photomultiplier\nmatrix. The results of different recon
struction methods applied to test beam data as\nwell as to simulated sampl
es are\npresented.\n\nThe velocity and charge measurements provided by the
RICH detector endow the AMS\nspectrometer with precise particle identific
ation capabilities in a wide energy\nrange. The expected performances on l
ight isotope separation are discussed.\n\nTo ensure nominal performances t
hroughout the flight\, several detector parameters\nhave to be carefully m
onitored. The algorithms developed to fulfill these\nrequirements are pres
 ented.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx/event/4/session/8/contribution/
