DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Prof. VASHENYUK\, Eduard (Polar Geophysical Institut
e of RAS)\nComparative analysis of the characteristics of relativistic sol
ar cosmic rays (SCR) \nin the two largest GLEs of 23 February 1956 and 20
January 2005 has been \nperformed. Using a modeling technique\, the parame
ters of relativistic solar \nprotons (RSP) were obtained from ground-based
observations by neutron \nmonitors (NM) and muon detectors. The two parti
cle populations (components)\, \nprompt (PC) with high anisotropy and expo
nential energy spectrum and \ndelayed one (DC) with moderate anisotropy an
d power-law spectrum\, were \nshown to exist in both cases. The prompt com
ponent was a cause of a giant \npulse-like increase at a limited number of
NM stations\, and the DC caused a \ngradual increase with moderate amplit
ude at the most NM stations over the \nglobe. It is argued that only expon
ential energy spectrum (but not power-law \none)\, in combination with ene
rgy dependence of the NM specific yield functions\, \ncould cause such gre
at increase effect (~5000%) in both cases.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.una
