 nIn the framework of LOPES (LOFAR PrototypE Station)\, a Self-Triggered Ar
 ray of Radio\ndetectors (STAR) is developed. The challenge of LOPES^STAR i
 s to provide an\nindependent self-trigger on radio emission of extensive a
 ir showers with primary\nenergy above approximate 5*10^17 eV.\nMeasurement
 s are done both with an external and self-trigger in radio loud and quiet\
 nareas. Based on these data the self-trigger is optimised and higher level
  triggers\nare developed\, as well as algorithms for reconstruction of sho
 wer observables.\nThe methods and first results from LOPES^STAR are descri
