DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Prof. BELZ\, John (University of Utah)\nCosmic rays
with energies between 10^16.5 and 10^18.5 eV exhibit a rich range \nof fea
tures. The energy spectrum changes index at at least two points\, known \n
as the "second knee" and the "ankle". There appears to be a composition ch
ange \nin this energy regime as well\, which may indicate a shift in predo
minance from \ngalactic to extragalactic sources. The Telescope Array Low-
 Energy Extension - \nplanned for construction in Millard County\, Utah\, U
SA - stands well poised to \nmake decisive simultaneous measurements of co
smic ray energy spectra and \ncomposition in this transition region. Here\
, we present the results of \nsimulation studies relevant to the design of
the TALE detectors\, and estimate \nthe sensitivity of TALE to compositio
 n changes in the 10^17 eV decade.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx/even
