 KASCADE-Grande is an extensive air shower experiment co-located to the ori
 ginal\nKASCADE site at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe\, Germany. Main parts o
 f the experiment\nare the Grande array consisting of 37x10 sqm scintillati
 on detectors spread over an\narea of 700x700 sqm\, the original KASCADE ar
 ray with 252 stations covering 200x200\nsqm with unshielded and shielded d
 etectors\, and additional muon tracking devices. \nThis multi-detector sys
 tem allows to investigate the energy spectrum\, composition\,\nand anisotr
 opies of cosmic rays in the energy range up to 1 EeV. The primary goals\nb
 esides investigating the origin of the knee at a few PeV\, are to verify t
 he\nexistence of the second knee at approximately 100 PeV and to measure t
 he composition\nin the expected transition region of galactic to extragala
 ctic cosmic rays. An\noverview on the performance of the apparatus\, showe
 r reconstruction methods\, and\nfirst results will be given on the basis o
