DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Mr. AMANO\, Takanobu (University of Tokyo)\nElectron
injection process at high Mach number collisionless quasiperpendicular sh
ock\nwaves is investigated by means of one-dimensional electromagnetic par
ticle-in-cell\nsimulations. We find that energetic electrons are generated
through the following two\nsteps: (1) electrons are accelerated nearly pe
rpendicular to the local magnetic field\nby shock surfing acceleration at
the leading edge of the shock transition region. (2)\nthe preaccelerated e
lectrons are further accelerated by shock drift acceleration. As\na result
\, energetic electrons are preferentially reflected back to the upstream.\
nShock surfing acceleration provides sufficient energy required for the re
flection.\nTherefore\, it is important not only for the energization proce
ss by itself\, but also\nfor triggering the secondary acceleration process
. We also present a theoretical\nmodel of the two-step acceleration mechan
ism based on the simulation results\, which\ncan predict the injection eff
iciency for subsequent diffusive shock acceleration\nprocess. We show that
the injection efficiency obtained by the present model agrees\nwell with
the value obtained by Chandra X-ray observations of SN 1006. At typical\ns
upernova remnant shocks\, energetic electrons injected by the present mech
anism can\nself-generate upstream Alfven waves\, which scatter the energet
 ic electrons themselves.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx/event/4/sessi
