DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Dr. VELASCO HERRERA\, Victor Manuel (Universidad Nac
ional Autonoma de Mexico\, Instituto de Geofisica)\nThe solar periodicitie
s of 80-88 yrs (Gleissberg cycle) and 205 yrs (de Vries cycle or Suess cyc
le) using different \ntime series of proxies of cosmogenic isotopes have b
een reported in a great number of papers.\nIn this work we present a more
objective and general cycle-length determination applying the wavelet \ntr
ansformation based on the Morlet wavelet to the cosmogenic isotopes. We us
e the INTERCAL98 for C14 time \nseries and Be10 time series for both the S
outh and North Poles. The results obtained from the wavelet \ntransformati
on show that there are no periodicities of 80-88 yrs or 205 yrs. This sugg
ests that these periodicities \nmay be the result of applying transformati
ons to time series that do not fulfill the condition of stationary.\n\nThe
estimated periodicities obtained the from Morlet wavelet are of 60 yrs (Y
 oshimura-Gleissberg cycle)\, 120 yrs \nand 240 yrs (de Vries cycle or Sues
s Cycle). The 120-periodicity could possibly be one of the principal perio
 dicities \nof magnetic solar activity.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx
