 gh energy (EHE) cosmic rays are expected to interact with cosmic\nmicrowav
 e photons and generate EHE neutrinos (>10PeV).\n\nThe IceCube telescope ca
 n detect the EHE neutrinos due to its large effective volume\,\nalthough t
 he expected flux is much lower than the huge flux of atmospheric backgroun
 d\nmuons at lower energies. Therefore\, reconstruction of the track geomet
 ry and\nespecially the energy are essential for the EHE neutrino detection
 .\n\nAn EHE neutrino may interact with the ice in or near IceCube and indu
 ce a muon/tau\ntrack with secondaries. The subsequent energy loss is rough
 ly proportional to the\nenergy of the muon/tau\, so from the measured ener
 gy loss one may infer a lower limit\non the energy of the parent neutrino.
 \n\nWe are developing an event reconstruction algorithm for the track geom
 etry and the\ndeposited energy by using all information about the emitted 
 Cherenkov light as\ndetected and recorded by the IceCube digital optical m
 odules\, using waveforms. The\ndetector response such as electronic noise\
 , signal spreading and saturation\, and also\ndetailed information about t
 he propagation of Cherenkov light in ice are taken into\naccount.\n\nWe wi
 ll present the resolution of the event geometry and the energy obtained wi
