 esent results of simulations of muon content in the air showers induced \n
 by very high energy cosmic rays. Muon energy distributions and muon densit
 ies \nat ground level are given. We discuss a prompt muon component genera
 ted by \ndecays of charmed mesons. The method combines standard Monte Carl
 o \ngenerators incorporated in the CORSIKA code and phenomenological estim
