 o Balseiro. Argentina)\nThe LAGO project aims at the detection of high ene
 rgy photons from GRBs using the\nsingle particle technique in ground based
  water Cherenkov detectors. To reach a\nreasonable sensitivity\, high alti
 tude mountain sites have been selected and detectors\nare in operation in 
 Mexico (Sierra Negra\, 4650m a.s.l.) and Bolivia (Chacaltaya\,\n5300m a.s.
 l.). We report on detector calibration and operation at high altitude\,\ns
 earch for bursts in 6 months of preliminary data\, as well as search for s
