 f the Whipple Observatory\nand they became fully operational in early 2007
 .  This paper \ndescribes the operational status of VERITAS\, outlines the

  CRESST (USRA))\nA instrument to image medium energy gamma-rays is being d
 esigned for the \nfuture NASA Advanced Compton Telescope (ACT) mission.  T
 his instrument \nconsists of a gas microwell imaging detector with an acti
 ve detection volume of \napproximately 1.6 m x 1.6m x 0.5m which is surrou
 nded by a segmented \ncalorimeter.  The use of the gas imager allows for t
 he detection and tracking of \nthe recoil electron from the Compton intera
 ction from an incident gamma-ray \nphoton as well as a measure of its ener
 gy from the amount of ionization in the \ngas volume.  The segmented calor
 imeter provides a trajectory and energy \nmeasurement of the scattered gam
 ma.  The goal is an instrument capable of \nproviding excellent position r
 esolution (4 degrees at 2 MeV) and good energy \nresolution (<20% at 6 keV
 ).  We will discuss the design and performance of a \nsmall-scale prototyp
 e detector unit as well as future plans for testing and flight.\n\nhttps:/

SUMMARY:Observing the universe at TeV energies with the HAWC observatory

  Astronomia\, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico)\nThe HAWC (High Alt
 itude Water Cherenkov) observatory is a proposed experiment that\ncombines
  a very high altitude site with the developed and proven Milagro water\nCh
 erenkov technology. HAWC is a 150m x 150m pond of water located above 4100
  m over\nsee level with a large field of view and a duty cycle higher than
  95%. It observes\nthe relativistic particles and secondary gamma rays in 
 extensive air showers of\nprimary particles with energies above a few tens
  of GeVs up to hundreds of TeVs. HAWC\nwill survey 2 pi sr of the sky ever
 y day with a sensitivity of the Crab flux at a\nmedian energy of 1 TeV. Af
 ter one year of operation\, half of the sky will be surveyed\nto 50mCrab. 
 This sensitivity will likely result in the discovery of new sources as\nwe
 ll as allow to follow up observations of detectors such as GLAST\, VERITAS
 /HESS and\nIceCube. In this work\, the observatory design\, performance\,

  YangBaJing Cosmic Ray Laboratory\n(4300 m a.s.l.\, Tibet\, P.R. China) ha
 s been put into operation for physics runs.\nIt is made of 130 identical s
 ub-units of 12 RPCs each ('cluster') covering a\nsurface of about 5800 m**
 2 with 92% active area. Signals are picked-up by external\nelectrodes of s
 mall size\, thus allowing the sampling of EAS with high space-time\ngranul
 arity. Shower events are detected at a trigger rate of about 4 kHz. Events
 \nwith a few particles detected by a single cluster are counted in scaler 
 mode on\na time base of 500 milliseconds. Preliminary results from the ana
 lysis of events\ncollected in a few months of data taking are presented.\n
