DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Mr. DE NAUROIS\, Mathieu (LPNHE IN2P3/CNRS - Univers
ités Paris VI/VII)\nThe binary system LS 5039 was serendipously with the
High Energy\nStereoscopic system (H.E.S.S.)\nduring the scan of the inner
galactic plane in 2004. Deeper observations\nwere carried out in 2005\, an
d brought clear evidence for TeV emission\nperodicity. This is the highest
energy periodic source known so far.\nThe observed flux modulation is att
ributed to a modulated absorption\nof the VHE gamma-ray emission of the c
ompact object through pair\ncreation on the stellar photosphere.\nSpectral
modulation is also observed in this system\; this might have\nseveral ori
gins such as modulation of particle acceleration or reprocessing\nof high
energy photons towards lower energy through cascading.\n\nWe will present
detailed studies of the source variability (flux and\nspectral shape)\, th
e timescales compared to other wavelengths\, and\nbriefly review the impli
 cations for existing\nemission models.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx
