DESCRIPTION:Speakers: VAN ELDIK\, Christopher (MPI for Nuclear Physics)\nT
he detection of TeV gamma-rays from the direction of the Galactic Centre i
s one of\nthe most exciting discoveries in recent years. Observations by t
he H.E.S.S. system of\nimaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes provide th
e most precise available data on\nthis source in the energy range 150 GeV
 - 30 TeV. The vicinity of the kinetic centre\nof our galaxy harbours numer
ous objects which could potentially accelerate particles\nto very high ene
rgies and thus produce the gamma-ray flux observed. The\ncentre-of-gravity
of the point-like emission measured by H.E.S.S. is in good\nagreement wit
h the position of the supermassive black hole Sgr A* and the recently\ndis
covered PWN G359.95-0.04. Given a systematic pointing error of about 30''\
, a\npossible association with the SNR Sgr A East could not be ruled out w
ith data\navailable from 2004. In this contribution an update is given on
the position of the\nH.E.S.S. Galactic Centre source using 2005/2006 data.
The systematic pointing error\nis significantly reduced using guiding tel
escopes for pointing corrections\, making it\npossible to exclude with hig
h significance Sgr A East as the source of the TeV\ngamma-rays.\n\nhttps:/
