DESCRIPTION:Speakers: BERNARDINI\, Elisa (DESY\, Zeuthen)\nFourth generati
on neutrino telescopes are now being constructed (IceCube) and\ndesigned (
KM3NET). While no neutrino flux of cosmic origin has been discovered so\nf
ar\, the first weak signals are expected to be discerned in the next few y
ears.\nMulti-messenger investigations aim at addressing the problem of ext
racting these\nsignals from irreducible backgrounds. One possible applicat
ion is the search for time\ncorrelations of high energy neutrinos and esta
blished signals. We show the first\nadaptation of a Target of Opportunity
strategy to collect simultaneous data of high\nenergy neutrinos and gamma-
rays. A tentative neutrino signal is used to alert\ngamma-ray observations
. The detection of a positive coincidence can enhance the\nneutrino discov
ery chance. More generally\, this scheme of operation can increase the\nav
ailability of simultaneous observations. If cosmic neutrino signals can be
\nestablished\, the combined observations will allow time correlation stud
ies and\ntherefore constraints on the source modeling. A first technical i
mplementation of\nthis scheme involving AMANDA and MAGIC has been realized
for few pre-selected sources\nin a short test run (Sept. to Dec. 2006)\,
with the aim of a feasibility study. The\nprinciples of the NToO test run
and its first outcomes will be shown and the\npotential for IceCube will b
 e discussed.\n\nhttps://indico.nucleares.unam.mx/event/4/session/101/contr
