Title: "Particle production as a function of UE activityin small and large systems and search for jet-like modifications." In this contribution, we present recent results obtained using conventional Un- derlying Event (UE) techniques to measure the average number density (Nch) and the average total transverse momentum (pT) in the toward, away and trans- verse regions in pp and p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. We will compare the two systems. Furthermore, the similarity between small and large collision systems will be explored using the UE charged-particle density, NT, and the self-normalised version, RT. By selecting on NT/RT and topological region, different micro- scopic processes contributing to the inclusive production can be isolated. Measurements of the charged particle production as a function of RT in pp, p– Pb and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV will be presented in the toward, away and transverse regions. The UE contributions measured in the transverse region are subtracted from the toward and the away regions to search for jet- like modifications in small systems. The jet-like signals are studied both as a function of NT and leading particle pT. Finally, the results on the production of π, K, p, φ, Ξ and d as a function of RT in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV are presented to explore the particle species dependence. In particular, the focus will be on the very low (high) RT to isolate the “jet” (UE) contributions. All the above results are compared with predictions from QCD-inspired Monte Carlo event generators such as PYTHIA and EPOS LHC. https://cern.zoom.us/j/8839979467 |
