Description

Although it represents an experimental challenge, the process of Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering (CEvNS) has been recently measured by the COHERENT collaboration using a stopped-pion source. In addition, several experimental efforts are trying to measure it using nuclear reactors. As signal, CEvNS offers a great possibility to study low-energy neutrino interactions within the Standard Model, as well as different scenarios beyond the Standard Model. As background, its understanding is crucial to direct detection dark matter experiments, since future multi-ton detectors will be subject to irreducible neutrino backgrounds, also known as the neutrino floor. In this talk we will review different CEvNS studies performed with data from COHERENT, as well as some expected results from nuclear reactor facilities. Moreover, we will discuss the impact of COHERENT measurements in the determination of the neutrino floor.
