Summary
The shape variables measure the geometrical properties of the energy flow in final QCD states. At e+e- colliders and DIS, these observables were extensively studied. However at hadron colliders they have not been sufficiently explored. The intention of this work is to discuss the potential of the event shape analysis (ESA): thrust and recoil for characterizing events according with their jet topologies and their multiplicity at LHC energies. We show that any exceptional event of very high multiplicity and uniformly distributed high trasnverse momentum could be "detected" in the context of this analysis. We will also show the sensitivity of the shape spectra with respect to the parton distribution functions as well as a comparison of the prediction of two event generators: pythia and phojet.
