Abstract content

Muons, photons, electrons and positrons are the most abundant secondaries of cosmic rays at ground level. While muons penetrate deeply in almost straight paths, highly energetic $\gamma$ and $e^{\pm}$ develop small underground showers which are stopped in first few meters. This difference may be used to distinguish footprints on buried detectors with x-y sensitivity. In this work we present fast and robust simulations techniques to emulate realistically the response of the BATATA hodoscope as well as its testing, building and quality assessment protocols.
