The CMS experiment at LHC: a new look at matter in our universe.
Abstract content
The talk describes the current understanding of particle physics and the still unsolved problems of the Standard Model of Fundamental Interactions. In particular it addresses the issues of the mass, dark matter and unification of the forces. The physics program of the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is then discussed together with a detailed description of the current status of the experiment and of the plans for the first year of data taking.
