 res UNAM)\nThe AdS/CFT correspondence is a duality connecting a gravitatio
 nal theory with a special kind of QFT. Physical observables\, on both side
 s\, are related by a dictionary\, which gives the possibility to translate
  QFT calculations\, in certain limits\, into geometric computations. In th
 is context\, the entanglement entropy associated to a spatial subregion on
  the CFT is dual to the area of an extremal surface on the gravity side. I
 n this talk\, I'm going to review some of the consequences of this connect
 ion. In particular\, I'm going to motivate the connection between quantum
