Description
The Dark Matter Experiment using Argon Pulse-shape Discrimination (DEAP), located 2 km underground at SNOLAB, is searching for WIMP dark matter with about 3.3 tonnes of liquid argon (LAr) contained in a spherical acrylic vessel. The construction and filling of this detector was completed in 2016, and it is currently taking physics data. In this opportunity, I would like to show the results of a 758 tonne-day exposure taken over a period of 231 live-days during the first year of operation. Although, no candidate signal events are observed, the analysis enabled to set the best limit on the WIMP-nucleon spin-independent cross section on a LAr target. On the other hand, it demonstrates the best pulse-shape discrimination in LAr and allowed a detailed background study.
