The isolated leading particle approach: a tool to study the medium created in heavy ion collisions
Description
In the study of heavy ion reactions, there are many methods to look at the created matter in the collisions. Jets have been of interest for many years, however, on this front, the techniques developed up to date for the analysis are not enough to understand a large body of signals, due to an unclear definition of jets. In this talk we present the details of the leading particles and the remaining associated particles in the so called isolated leading particle approach, as well as some results to illustrate that this simple technique provides a powerful tool of analysis in proton-proton and in ion-ion collisions.
