Description
In this talk we review the method of extracting the parton-to-pion fragmentations and we present a global QCD fit for them. The knowledge of these non-perturbative objects is extremely important in order to test the factorization theorem of QCD and universality. In addition, universality allow the use of them to describe the measurements at collider machines and moreover at the LHC. Therefore, a global determination of them (i.e., using all available observable: ALICE, Belle, Hermes, etc.) is necessary for a complete understanding of the analyses at the LHC.
